Our History

The Claretian Ashram Society was formally established on 9 January 1991 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and registered as Society No. 935 of 1991. Its registered office is located at Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha – 442107, Maharashtra.

Inspired by the missionary vision of St. Anthony Mary Claret, Founder of the Claretian

Missionaries (Congregation of Missionary Sons of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary – CMF), the Society was established to promote holistic human development through education, priestly and religious formation, spiritual renewal, and charitable service. Since its inception, it has remained committed to serving people irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or social background, fostering both human and Christian values.

The Society seeks to nurture intellectual excellence, moral integrity, spiritual growth, and social responsibility through quality educational institutions, formation houses, and developmental initiatives. For more than three decades, it has contributed significantly to the welfare of society by integrating education, evangelization, and social outreach.

The principal objectives of the Society are to:

Establish, maintain, and administer seminaries, novitiate houses, theological colleges, arts and science colleges, schools, and other educational and charitable institutions under the Claretian Congregation in India.

Promote the integral development of individuals by enhancing their literary, cultural, intellectual, moral, social, and economic well-being through educational and developmental programmes.

Administer the temporal goods of the Congregation in accordance with the Gospel values of justice, simplicity, responsible stewardship, and evangelical poverty.

Foster a life of simplicity, discipline, and austerity inspired by the ideals of Indian Sannyasa and the Claretian missionary charism.

Promote faith formation through retreats, seminars, lectures, counselling, study circles, and other educational and spiritual programmes.

Encourage spiritual, moral, ethical, and religious values that foster harmony, peace, and human dignity.

Empower rural communities through scientific knowledge and practical training in agriculture, dairy farming, poultry, piggery, and other sustainable livelihood programmes.

Collaborate with national and international institutions engaged in educational, charitable, social, and humanitarian activities.

For over three decades, the Claretian Ashram Society has faithfully carried forward its founding vision of proclaiming the Gospel through education, formation, and service. Today, it continues to serve as a vibrant centre of learning, spiritual formation, and social transformation, dedicated to building a just, enlightened, and compassionate society through the transformative power of education, faith, and selfless service.
